What's CITY Talking About?

PG Workers Strike Continues 1 Year Later
Negotiations with management have stalled, and around 90 Post-Gazette writers and production workers remain on strike. The paper’s unions have been without a contract since March 2017. The National Labor Relations Board ruled in January that the PG violated federal labor law by not bargaining in good faith. The Newspaper Guild demands that management resume contract negotiations, undo working conditions imposed on members in 2020, and help with health care costs. [90.5 WESA]

Mon Incline Closed — Again
The Monongahela Incline will be closed until Wednesday to repair a damaged car door. Pittsburgh Regional Transit plans to run a shuttle bus between Mt. Washington and Station Square, but driver shortages may lead to delays. [Pittsburgh Union Progress]
Local District Could Get Its Own Police
Next week, North Allegheny School District will vote to create its own police force, possibly joining local districts like Baldwin-Whitehall, Bethel Park, and Plum. Armed officers would be sent to senior and intermediate high schools, seven elementary schools, and three middle schools. [TribLIVE]
- Not everyone thinks it's the safest option; advocates argue more police can cause harm to Black, brown, and disabled students who are disproportionately targeted for discipline. [PublicSource / 90.5 WESA]
