September 27, 2023

Hey neighbor! Do you like a fright? 👻 The City Cast Pittsburgh team is back with another getaway guide, and we summoned some haunted experts to share their most chilling adventures. Come back tomorrow for our grand finale in this three-part series! 🍻

What's CITY Talking About?

Yinz Want Free Primanti’s for a Year?

Show up at the opening of the new Primanti Bros. in Ross Township’s McIntyre Square today! If you’re one of the first 100 people through the doors, you’ll join the 100 club. A celebratory tailgate starts at 6:30 a.m., and doors open at 10:30 a.m. [WPXI]

Chestnut Street to be Rebuilt

The first phase of a $1.47 million project to rebuild the brick street in East Allegheny is underway. The streetcar tracks will be removed but its charm won’t be lost; both the concrete base and brick surface will be rebuilt. Plus, new sidewalks and curbs will be installed from Spring Garden Avenue to Tripoli Street, and next year’s phase will extend to Phineas Street. [Pittsburgh Union Progress]

Free Camping Equipment for Kids

Last year, the city approved a pilot program to allow youth organizations to acquire permits to camp in city parks, and the nonprofit Outdoor Inclusion Coalition is making sure kids have the equipment they need. When an adult completes the nonprofit’s free training on leading camping trips, they’ll have access to the group’s gear “library.” The pilot program starts in Riverview Park. [TribLIVE]
