What's CITY Talking About?
Global Anti-Hate Summit Back In Pittsburgh
More than 300 academics, global leaders, and law enforcement officials will gather at the Eradicate Hate Global Summit this week to discuss education and actions to stop hate-fueled violence. The summit was created in Pittsburgh after the synagogue shooting in 2018. This year’s agenda includes presentations on red flags for youth, attacks on the LGBTQ+ community, and video game violence. Finally, Some Land Bank Progress
More than 20,000 city properties are abandoned and collecting tax debt — and the Pittsburgh Land Bank is finally making a small dent at the problem after a decade of inactivity. The Urban Redevelopment Authority approved a transfer of 17 small properties that will go to nine different organizations. [PublicSource]

College or Tech Training? Pgh Adults Weigh In
Nearly half of respondents to a survey of 400 adults from Allegheny and nearby counties say they’d encourage students to go to a vocational or technical school, while 28 percent would encourage a bachelor’s degree and 13 percent an advanced degree. Rising college costs and the value of skilled labor seems like something everyone can agree on — there was little variation by race or political party. - 🎧 Getting an affordable degree just got more difficult for Pittsburgh Public Schools students, and its watchdog group, A+ Schools, reports local foundations may be looking for new investments. What happened to the Pittsburgh Promise? [City Cast Pittsburgh]
