Another Alligator in the Kiski?!

The Steel City Classic fishing tournament will bring 70 fishers to the Kiski River this weekend, and they might be angling for more than just fish — another alligator was spotted over Labor Day weekend. How does this keep happening? In case you missed it, I shared the last alligator on the loose, Chompers, and Pittsburgh’s weird history of stray reptilians. [TribLIVE / Hey Pittsburgh]

Too Hot for School

Thirty-eight out of 54 Pittsburgh Public Schools are doing remote learning today because the heat index is above 90 degrees, and these schools don’t have air conditioning. Grab-and-go meals will be available at 19 locations in the Pittsburgh Public Schools district. [KDKA]

A Comeback for Denis & Hollywood

The owners of Row House Cinema in Lawrenceville plan to reopen Mount Lebanon’s Denis Theatre as a destination for film, culture, and history. The Denis Theatre was opened in 1938 by the Harris family. (John Harris was the co-owner of Pittsburgh’s first Nickelodeon film theater on Smithfield Street.) And Row House is also reopening Dormont’s Hollywood Theater. Look for the open house Oct. 1. [NEXTpittsburgh / Pittsburgh Magazine]

Why Does PA Want Hydrogen Hubs?

The federal government is giving away billions of dollars to build hydrogen hubs across the country, and Pennsylvania lawmakers want in. They’re excited about hydrogen as a cleaner energy source than fossil fuels — and about the potential for new, well-paying jobs. But some environmental advocates worry that without the right regulations in place, these hubs won’t actually be as environmentally-friendly as they seem. Kate Huangpu, government reporter for Spotlight PA, joins us to break it all down.

Until tomorrow,
