Good morning from me and my favorite cup in the Burgh ☕

Congrats to Commonplace Coffee employees for forming their union with voluntary recognition from management AND announcing a new location at the old Georgie’s Cafe in Shadyside.

I didn’t know you could do it, but yinz just got even cooler 🎉

What Pittsburgh's Talking About

Fetterman Votes Against Limiting Iran War

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman sided with Republicans to cast the deciding vote against an effort to reign in President Donald Trump’s ability to attack Iran. Some of Fetterman’s fellow Democrats argue the war is illegal and wasn’t prompted by an imminent threat to Americans. Trump unilaterally launched the war in February without authorization from Congress. [Philadelphia Inquirer via TribLive]

County Considers Regulating Tattoo Shops

Because PA doesn’t have statewide safety and inspection standards for tattoo shops, the Allegheny County Health Department is considering ways it can oversee the industry. Officials met with local tattoo artists to discuss possible regulations, and several tattooers recommended forming an advisory board to help guide the department. [WESA]

PRT Ridership Doubled During NFL Draft

Pittsburgh Regional Transit recorded nearly 485,000 rides during the three-day event, a nearly 51% increase from its normal ridership. The agency also generated $1.2 million revenue but says that likely didn’t cover its total costs. [City Cast Pittsburgh / Post-Gazette]

Penn Brewery Listed for Sheriff’s Sale

The property on Vinial Street is scheduled to go to auction on June 1 with an opening bid of $2,720.09. Penn Brewery's owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month but insisted the business wasn’t closing. It’s now unclear what will happen with the historic site. [TribLive]
