| Carnegie Museums Plan Big Projects | Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh launched a $500 million fundraising campaign to support renovations, new programming, and long-term investments across all four of its museums. The campaign will fund a creative arts center near The Warhol and a “Steel Beach” for waterfront amenities along the Kamin Science Center’s stretch of the Ohio River, among other projects. [WESA / TribLive] | | Paid Parental Leave in Allegheny County? | The local health department wants to amend its sick leave policy to include mandatory, paid parental leave for employees across the county. Under the proposal, employers would be required to provide 18 weeks of leave within the first year after birth, adoption, or permanent legal placement. The county is opening a public comment period, and the board of health could make changes to the policy before sending it to council for a final vote. [City Cast Pittsburgh / Allegheny County Press Conference] | | City Controller Talks Budget Deficit | City Controller Rachel Heisler's been sounding the alarm about our city budget. In her annual report, she found that the city overspent by about $45 million in 2025. But just because we've struggled to budget doesn't mean it has to stay that way. Controller Heisler joins host Megan Harris to explain how we got here and what the city can do to build up its savings in the years to come. [City Cast Pittsburgh] | | Tambellini and Co. Enters Sandwich Biz | The Tambellini family is keeping their local legacy alive with a new Italian deli in Brookline. Menu items include paninis stacked with porchetta or chicken parm cutlets; antipasto like meatballs and fried house-made mozzarella; and biscotti for dessert. The Tambellinis closed their last fine dining restaurant in Highland Park earlier this year. [Tambellini and Co.] |
